04 : Entrepreneurship

During my time at ETH Zurich in Switzerland, I joined the Innosuisse Startup Campus course “Business Concept,” where I developed the skills, knowledge, and contacts needed to embark on a new entrepreneurial journey. In 2020, I founded "Urania" in my home country, Chile, introducing the innovative concept of "Cosmotourism." This initiative combines astronomical tourism with sustainable accommodation and the promotion of local heritage within the same experience.

Building on the success of this initial concept, I am now expanding the Cosmotourism idea into a broader venture aimed at making the wonders of the universe more accessible and engaging. This new phase of the project focuses on integrating educational content with adventure, providing curated experiences designed to ignite curiosity and deepen understanding across various disciplines. While still under development, this venture promises to combine stargazing with practical workshops and inspiring lectures from experts in fields ranging from physics to archaeology.

During my postdoctoral fellowship at Caltech, I actively participated in their entrepreneurship club, which helped lay the groundwork for my entrepreneurial aspirations. Currently, I am engaged in the "Start U Up" program at La Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. This initiative provides an in-depth introduction to entrepreneurship through a series of workshops, personalized mentorship sessions, and hackathons. It is tailored specifically for international students and researchers eager to understand and succeed in the French entrepreneurial ecosystem. Additionally, I am thrilled to be a contestant in the 2024 International Pitch Night competition hosted by the Cité. This event will be an excellent opportunity to present and advance the Cosmotourism venture, highlighting its unique approach to integrating astronomy and sustainable tourism.
